Everyone’s in the mood for Christmas. Most people are counting the goals they achieved this year. It’s beautiful. It makes you happy for them. But when you turn away from your screen, you’re reminded of a familiar ache, one that has traveled with you all through the year.
You’ve tried explaining it once or twice to a few people, hoping to find relief. But each time, words failed you. So now you’re left wondering how something can feel so tangible inside you, yet remain so difficult to explain.
This ache isn’t superficial. It’s sewn into the very fabric of your being. If it were up to you, you would have reached deep inside yourself and ripped it out. But it’s tucked away in a place even you cannot reach.
You know, the way you know your own name, that there is more. You can’t define what ‘more’ is, but you are certain this isn’t it.
So you stay busy. You set goals and achieve them. You fill your days.
Yet that ancient ache, the same one that echoed in the hearts of some who came before you, refuses to leave.
It feels like something… no, Someone is calling you deeper.
Deeper into a place you’ve never dared to go.
You know it because nothing quite sparks your interest anymore. You’ve begun to question everything society taught you to chase. There’s a hunger inside you that only distractions can quiet.
To survive, you’re given two options:
Stay distracted. Pretend the hunger isn’t real, that it won’t lead anywhere.
Or lock in and find out.
If you’re like me, you fight distractions every blessed day. And slowly, you discover that very few things fan the flames of this ancient ache.
I should warn you.
It hurts. It’s lonely, it’s heavy and often confusing.
How do you explain that the only real relief you find on this journey comes through prayer and fellowship with God?
The ache doesn’t mean you’re lost. It means you’re listening.
Because in the end, recognizing this pull makes you different. It’s a longing God Himself planted, hoping you would pause in the middle of the rat race long enough to ask what it’s really about.
In summary, you have a destiny calling.
The road is messy. The path is often unclear. But pay attention to the ache that just won’t go away. Perhaps, like Moses, you’ve been chosen for something you’ll only ever discover if you dare to find out.
That ache that tells you you were made for more, that won’t disappear no matter how many projects you complete, is a sign.
Don’t get distracted by the million roads before you.
Dare to find out.
And keep finding out, in prayer and in the Word, why this ancient ache chose you.

This is very helpful ❤️😊
Very apt📌
More grease to your elbow 🥂
Amen. Thank youuu!
Awesome! I’m glad it is.
Sighs…
Knowing what path to take and still finding yourself stuck…. How about that?
The interesting thing about God is that He will never lead you on a path where you can do without Him. So even when you know the path to take, you’ll still need to walk with Him closely for wisdom, strength, help and anything else you need. So if you feel stuck right now, pray. He’ll get you unstuck real quick. Pray, read your Bible and keep your eyes peeled for anything He does or says.
I will definitely find out! Not going under through distractions.
Thank you for this timely and timeless write-up. God bless you.
Way to go, Esther! I pray you find your own unique path in God.
