Let me not lie to you.
I don’t have a five-step formula that will help you find your purpose in the next four business days.
Because purpose isn’t something that’s lost.
It’s something that is discovered.
Some people say, “Just try different things until you figure out what works for you.”
But I beg to differ.
How can someone know what they were created to do if they don’t know the One who created them?
Sounds like a bit of a complicated situation.
But it really isn’t.
The first question on your journey to discovering your purpose is:
“Who sent me?”
You didn’t accidentally appear on earth. God sent you here.
And no, it wasn’t just because your parents fell in love and decided to start a family.
There is always an agenda on God’s heart.
So whenever He sends a person into the world, He doesn’t just create another human being. He places unique abilities, desires, burdens, and gifts within them to accomplish it.
This is what I call The Assignment.
AKA: “PURPOSE”.
Now, imagine having such an assignment and spending your entire life chasing everything except it.
A lot of people today are doing this and are living unfulfilled lives, inwardly frustrated, because deep down they know there’s something more.
When you buy a new product, you check the manual for information about it.
Discovering purpose begins with consulting Your Manufacturer. And asking Him very specific questions about who you are and what you’re meant to do.
Now, here’s where a lot of people miss it:
They think they can figure out what comes naturally to them, what makes them angry, curious, excited… and then begin to solve problems in that direction.
But when you skip the relationship with God and jump straight into discovering your gifts, you’re likely going to become successful at doing things related to your purpose…
…while having the wrong identity. And purpose without identity is frustrating.
So you want to discover your purpose?
Start by walking with the One who made you. Build a relationship with Him. Spend time with Him consistently.
He won’t hand you a complete blueprint overnight, because He doesn’t work that way.
He journeys with you. He points you in the right direction. He helps you see what others cannot see in you
and while He’s doing that, he’s giving you a very strong sense of identity, building your moral compass, and developing your character.
Because with God, purpose isn’t a destination you’ll suddenly arrive at.
It’s a lifelong journey of discovering and unpacking everything He placed inside you before He sent you earthbound.
